This workshop will introduce the participant to the materials, techniques and applications of professional artist's grade colored pencils in producing realistic works of art.  Each participant will create a finished picture in the course of the sessions.  

 

Materials   Prismacolor 12 Color Pencil Set Prismacolor Colorless Blender (PC1077) Blue Reusable Adhesive Brush (Small inexpensive brush for cleaning debris off drawing) Pencil Sharpener (Manual or Battery) Artist's Clipboard or piece of foam board to draw on       Project Kit (Supplied by instructor)   Reference Photo Practice Paper  Project Drawing Paper Step-by-step Illustrated Instructions

Session 1 (3 Hours)

 

Sample CP drawings

Description and discussion of pencils and related tools

Discussion of appropriate drawing locations

Exploration of Prismacolor pencil methods and techniques

Layering and building colors

Complementary color underpainting

Burnishing with colored pencil, colorless blender and solvents

Begin drawing project (Work at home to finish)

 

Session 2 (3 Hours)

 

Coaching and completion of individual drawings

Demonstration and discussion of alternate drawing surfaces

Using mixed media with colored pencil

Basic color theory

Support and education sources for CP Artists
